The 7th SCI Innovation Competition brought together a distinguished panel of competition judges, including Dr. Reza Moridi, former Minister of Research and Innovation for the Province of Ontario, Benton Leong, Vice President of Investment at Lumira Ventures, and Dr. Zheng Hong (George) Zhu, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at York University. The panel also included Dr. Heyu Ni, Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto, Stuart Browne, CEO of Pycap Venture Partners, Bruce W. Young, Managing Director at InnoCité, and Andre Tilban-Rios, Director of Investments at BDC Capital.
Their diverse backgrounds and expertise played a pivotal role in identifying the most promising ventures and ensuring that the competition remained at the forefront of technological innovation. In addition to the panel of competition judges, the event also featured keynote speakers who provided valuable insights into the world of business and the importance of global collaboration and market expansion.
Mark Miller, CEO of Volaris Group, spoke about the challenges and opportunities of scaling a business in a global marketplace, while Sarah Kutulakos, Executive Director & COO of Canada China Business Council, shared her experience in building cross-border partnerships and promoting trade between Canada and China. The keynote speakers provided valuable insights that complemented the competition’s focus on technological innovation and its impact on global markets.
The global competition will be held in Shenzhen, China on April 7 – 14, 2024.
